Nagpur: Picking holes in police investigation into kidnapping of a 5-year old kidnapped girl from Amgaon in Gondia District, the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Tuesday ordered handing over the case to State CID (Crime Investigation Department). A Division Bench of Justice Bhushan Gavai and Justice Atul Chandurkar ordered State CID probe into the kidnapping of 5-year old Arushi Anand Suryavanshi. The HC also directed the Amgaon police to handover all the relevant documents of the case to CID within seven days. The 5-year old kid, Arushi, daughter of Varsha Anandrao Suryavanshi, native of Amgaon in Gondia District, was playing outside her house with her friend on July 20, 2013. Later the kid went missing and was reportedly abducted by some unidentified person(s). Following tardy investigation by local police and their failure to find the girl, the parents of Arushi knocked the doors of Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court for justice. Adv Omnarayan Gupta, representing the Suryavanshis, argued in the High Court that the investigation by the then Police Inspector P D Pandhre has been found with lots of shortcomings. The Amgaon cops utterly failed to nab the offenders. In fact the police helped the accused kidnappers escape the police net. The parents of Arushi suspected dubious role of many persons in the kidnapping of her daughter. However, the police officer Pandhre, in his report submitted to the court, did not mention the fact and lied that no suspects were named by the parents. Similarly, during investigation, a dupatta of Arushi was spotted in the house of a suspect but Pandhre, for reasons, did not seize the dupatta. Considering the facts, Adv Gupta prayed the High Court to order either CID or CBI probe into the kidnapping of Arushi and also order appropriate action against the police officer P D Pandhre. Accepting the prayer, the High Court ordered State CID investigation into Arushi case. Additional Government Pleader Rajesh Nayak appeared on behalf of State Government and submitted details of police investigation into the case.
