Passengers miffed with closed ticket booking counter at Nashik Railway station

I was furious and protested about how authorities could suddenly close the counter without any prior information. Shinde, who was standing third in queue was left perplexed. "I was already in the queue for about half-an-hour and suddenly I was asked to go to the other window, where I was pushed to stand 11th in the queue. The fourth window opens only at 4pm and operates till 10pm. But, I still had to stand in the queue for a long time," Shinde said.Most commuters have complained of counter 2 and 3 being suddenly closed while people are standing in a queue in front of the window.There are four counters at the Nashik Road railway station reservation counter, which operate from 8am to 2pm.

NASHIK: If you are standing in a queue at the ticket reservation counter number 2 or 3 of the Nashik Road railway station , there is a chance that you might be suddenly asked to leave the queue and move to an adjacent counter after 2pm.This confusion will happen because the railways is short of staff and abruptly shuts down a counter, leaving those waiting in queues high and dry.A resident of Nashik Road Sanjay Shinde , who stood in a queue before booking window number 2 at 1.45pm last week, was told at 2.15pm to move to booking window number 1 as the earlier window would not function in the second half of the day. Shinde, who was standing third in queue was left perplexed."I was already in the queue for about half-an-hour and suddenly I was asked to go to the other window, where I was pushed to stand 11th in the queue. After lunch hours, only three windows are kept open. The fourth window opens only at 4pm and operates till 10pm."We have informed the general manager regarding this. We had raised the matter earlier as well with the local railway officials, but it appears that the railway is unwilling to do anything about it," said Siddheshwar Shinde, zonal railway users' consultative committee member.A senior official from the railways said that the shortage of staff has compelled them to close a window.
