Six of family drown in river Ganga

PATNA: In a tragic incident, six people of one family lost their life after drowning into river Ganga on Thursday morning. Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed his grief over the incident and instructed the district administration officials to provide all possible help to the family and provide them ex-gratia amount without any delay. The incident took place at around 7am when all of them had gone to take bath in the river under Marachii police station in Mokama.Those who died include 65-year-old Pawan Singh and his five grandchildren Nikki Kamari , 13, Kajal Kumari, 12, Mridula Kumari , 10, Maula Kumari , 8, and Anmol Kumar 11. Seeing this their grandfather, Pawan, went to rescue the kids and others caught their grandfather, however, they too failed and drown in the river.Though four of the bodies were immediately fished out by the locals, later SDRF team rushed to the spot and took out two other bodies. Kajal, Maula and Mridula were daughters of Pawan's elder son Pankaj Singh who is farmer by profession and Nikki and Anmol were children of Pawan's younger son Niranjan Sharma, a government employee, informed Marachii SHO Munna Kumar The incident occurred when one of the girl child started drowning after which two others went forward to help her but they too failed and started drowning.
