Pune: A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus parked outside a bus terminus in Hadapsar was gutted in fire around 8.15am on Saturday, taking the number of such incidents to six since November 2017.Though nobody was injured in the incident, it has once again put a huge question mark on the condition of PMPML buses and the safety of commuters travelling by these vehicles.The blue bus in question was CNG-run but the cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.Fireman Babasaheb Chavan from the Hadapsar fire brigade station said, "A fire tender rushed to the Sadesatranali terminus after receiving information about the incident from the central fire brigade control room. Our firemen took about five minutes to douse the fire.""The CNG gas cylinder did not get heated up or else the situation would have gone out of hand," he added.Senior inspector Vishnu Pawar of the Hadapsar police said, "The fire may have occurred due to short circuit. We have made an entry of an accidental fire in the general diary."A PMPML official said, "No passengers were present in the bus at the time of the fire. We are conducting an inquiry to ascertain the cause behind it and the damage. It belonged to Mahalaxmi transport."
