Give PMFBY cover to crop damaged by wild animals: MP

He said that enhancement of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) fund from Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 40,000 crore and fixing the target of Per Drop More Crop will strengthen the irrigation network in the country. SHIMLA: BJP MP from Shimla, Virender Kashyap has demanded that crop damaged by wild animals in Himachal Pradesh should be covered under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).While speaking in Lok Sabha on demands of the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare for the year 2017-18, he said 70 tehsil areas of the hill state are badly affected by the wild animal menance and farmers in higher hills have abandoned their agriculture land after suffering repeated losses.Kashyap has demanded formulation of long term irrigation scheme for the state to utilize the available hilly water resources so as to increase the income of agriculturists in the state.
