Srinagar by-polls: Abdullah and Nazir Ahmad file nominations

The Srinagar by-polls is set to take place on April 9th and today National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and ruling PDP candidate Nazir Ahmad filed their nomination papers for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency. The by-election in Srinagar constituency has been necessitated by the resignation of Tariq Hamid Karra from the Lok Sabha in September last year in a mark of protest against alleged brutalities on protesters.

The Srinagar by-polls is set to take place on April 9th and today National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and ruling PDP candidate Nazir Ahmad filed their nomination papers for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

The by-election in Srinagar constituency has been necessitated by the resignation of Tariq Hamid Karra from the Lok Sabha in September last year in a mark of protest against alleged brutalities on protesters.

Tariq Hamid defeated Abdullah in 2014 Lok Sabha polls while contesting on a PDP ticket. However, Tariq recently joined Congress will not be contesting the polls due to a seat-sharing agreement between National Conference and his new party.
