80 towers of a mobile company to be sealed

The company has been paying the taxes since the last decade but midway stopped paying the amount claiming it isn't applicable for mobile towers. The mobile service provider had reportedly challenged the same in the Court but was reportedly asked to pay the amount. The company had approached the Bombay High Court in the matter but was asked to pay the amount first. THANE: Residents from Thane could likely face some mobile range problems as the Municipal Corporation here has issued orders to seal nearly 80 towers of a mobile company installed in the city after it reportedly defaulted on paying property taxes to the tune of Rs 22 crores to the administration here.According to civic officials , the company is liable to pay property tax to the administration since the last five years. Despite the orders, the company has not yet paid up the amount following which we have issued a seizure warrant against them under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949 (Act)," informed Sandeep Malvi, deputy municipal commissioner and public relations officer at TMC.A response from the mobile company was sought through the email at the time of going to the press.
