Two youths drown

Two 19-year-old youths were found dead in the Kalladichavila quarry pound at Njandoorkonam near Powdikkonam on Wednesday morning. The families of the youths had on Tuesday filed man-missing complaints after they failed to return home by night. The search operation in the pond, organised jointly by the Fire and Rescue Services and Indian Navy personnel, began after local people found their scooter near the pond. The duo, first year students at private engineering colleges in Nedumangad and Chanthavila, were reported missing from their homes on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Kiran.S.Suresh from Powdikkonam and P.Vivek from Chempazhanthi.

Kiran’s body was recovered by 9 a.m. and Vivek’s by 10.30 a.m. The bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy.
