The committee led by Syndicate member M. Sreekumar recorded the statements of students and teachers of the college on Thursday. They found preliminary evidence regarding ‘excess’ internal marks and attendance being granted to a group of four students including Anuradha P. Nair, the fiancée of former Principal P. Lekshmi Nair’s son, in violation of the university norms. It was found that they were provided 27 days of excess attendance to obtain the 75 per cent attendance required to appear for the written examination. Extra mark given While those with 75 per cent attendance were supposed to receive 2.5 marks, Anuradha was found to have been given four marks. While she claimed she had been sent to participate in various programmes, including seminar on the days marked as absent, she could not furnish documents to support her claim. Similarly, the other three students were also given additional marks in such a manner. Twenty-seven students were provided excess attendance to attain 75 per cent internals. The committee will record the statements of these students on a later date, to be decided on Monday. The report will be placed before the next meeting of the Syndicate.
