more-in TIRUCHI: The Tamil Nadu High and Higher Secondary School Headmasters Association has urged the School Education Department to immediately fill the vacant posts of Chief Educational Officers and teaching posts across the State for ensuring smooth academic conduct in educational institutions. A resolution adopted to this effect at the state general body meeting held here on Sunday said that three posts of Chief Education Officer, 30 posts of Additional CEO and 50 posts of District Education Officer were lying vacant. These posts should be filled immediately, well before the valuation of the SSLC and Plus Two public examination papers. Another resolution said that about 3,500 posts of Post-Graduate Teachers in the higher secondary schools were lying vacant. “Due to continued non-recruitment of postgraduate teachers for the past two years, the number of vacant posts kept increasing,” the resolution said. Samy. Sathiamoorthy, State president of the association, addressing the media, said that though the School Education Department had started free English medium sections in rural schools in the past four years, the Audit wing of the department collected a fee of ?200 a pupil in English medium from the headmaster. “The State government should clarify whether the English medium section is free or self-financing unit,” he said. He also sought clarification to be provided to the Plus Two students on the need for National Eligiblity-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). With uncertainty shrouding around, students should be given a clear advice in this regard. Resolutions pleading for posting of adequate sanitary workers and minimising the non-academic workload on teachers were also passed. “Teachers are held responsible for administering vaccines and distributing uniforms,” he said.
