Old temples in KVC project to be conserved, says Yogi Adityanath

VARANASI: Allaying fears for the first time, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that all old temples coming under the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (KVC) project , for which many old structures are being demolished, would be conserved to protect the unique identity of the city.“All old temples under the project would be conserved and beautified to give a new height to the ancient identity of Kashi,” said Yogi after inspecting the project on Thursday, the first day of his tw-day visit to the city.He added that the project would take shape by the forthcoming Shivratri festival . The CM also offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple He viewed a presentation on the proposed development of Sarnath under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of the Union ministry of tourism. The scheme was launched in 2014-15 for integrated development of theme-based tourist circuits in the country.The World Bank has proposed a Rs. 53.81 crore project for the development of Sarnath as an ideal Buddhist destination under this scheme.The proposed work include development of road, drainage system, meditation centre, parking and vending zones, and other facilities for the visitors.On Friday, the CM took stock of the preparations at the ‘tent city’ in Aidhey village set up to house NRIs coming to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) convention to be held here from January 21-23.
