Before film shows, theatres to play Swachh Kashi Gaan

Varanasi: The city denizens who had been listening to the national anthem will also be treated to a special audio-visual feature song on cleanliness prior to the screening of films in the cinema halls, as a part of Swachh Survekshan. DM further added, "Being the city of salvation, the city attracts large number of people from all parts of the world and a city of that stature needs to be kept clean. "Later, he asked denizens to buck up for the cleanliness survey and also for impending Assembly polls by using their right to vote.Municipal commissioner SP Shahi appealed people to realize their roles in maintaining cleanliness of the city and also urged the audience to come up with a similar anthem for the city and for river Ganga.

The song was premiered during a ceremony at a prominent mall in Sigra on Thursday.The four-and-a-half-minute long feature song titled 'Swachh Kashi Gaan' is an initiative undertaken by Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) and implemented by one of its partner firms Kiyanaa Solutions and students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV) who directed and featured in it.Audience comprising officials of district administration, municipal corporation and others witnessed premiere of the feature song that opened with a tagline that read 'Hum Sabki Zimmedari Hai' (It is the responsibility of all of us). The introductory audio kicks off with 'Ye Swachh Kashi Abhiyan Hai' featuring corporation officials and district administration followed by extensive cleanliness drives at ghats along the Ganga and in city areas.The visuals beautifully capture daily-life instances wherein a person chewing paan, about to spit on the walls, takes note of the dustbin and spits in that instead and similar scenes showing denizens realise their responsibility of keeping the city clean. However, the scene-stealer is one in which a girl dressed as 'Kashi' (city) is surrounded by garbage as people continue to litter the streets followed by a transformed Kashi where denizens are seen removing the garbage and making it clean.DM Yogeshwar Ram Mishra, Padma awardee Pt Channu Lal Mishra, Swachhata ambassadors like Temsutula Imsong and Pintu Kumar and eminent people of city were present as special guests on the release of the audio-video.Speaking on the occasion, the DM appreciated the efforts and exhorted people to keep their households and workplace clean.
