more-in Collector Pravin Kumar has outlined a series of measures to accelerate housing units under construction under various schemes so as to meet the deadline. He expressed his displeasure at the slow pace of grounding houses and hinted at action against those responsible for lack of progress. Construction should begin in coordination with Janmabhoomi committees and MLAs and if some of the beneficiaries that were allotted houses were not coming forward they should be cancelled as per the suggestion of MLAs, the Collector said at a meeting with the Housing Department officials. Mr. Pravin Kumar said every fortnight he would hold review meetings with contractors. The houses sanctioned to Hudhud victims should be completed by March. Besides houses, roads, drainage, septic tanks, culverts, electricity and water supply should be completed providing necessary infrastructure. Since the Chief Minister was also reviewing the progress of Hudhud-houses, they should be readied for inauguration with the Project Director and executive engineers carrying out frequent inspections. Of the 11,589 houses sanctioned under NTR Housing in the district, 4,873 have been geo-tagged. He, however, observed that the district was lagging behind. Visible progress should be achieved by the week and any land and survey-related issues should be taken to the notice of the Joint Collector. Top five and bottom five mandals would be identified so as to monitor mandal-wise progress. Housing Project Director G.V. Prasad and District Water Management Agency Project Director Kalyana Chakaravarti and executive engineers participated.
