Elderly woman ‘gang-raped’

A 60-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four persons near Poorna Market area under One-Town police station limits in Visakhapatnam on Sunday night. The police said that four youngsters had gone to Poornamarket after a liquor party on Sunday night and they found a lonely woman in the area and allegedly raped her. Sources in police said the victim is a destitute and they have taken a few suspected into their custody for interrogation. The culprits beat up the woman before leaving the spot. The victim was found in an unconscious state on Monday morning by some fisherfolk and was admitted to King George Hospital.

Based on a complaint from the victim, the police have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and investigation is on to nab the culprits. Sources in police said the victim is a destitute and they have taken a few suspected into their custody for interrogation.
