"As per the global literature on diabetes among the agrarian sector, the prevalence of Type II diabetes (Diabetes Mellitus) is significantly lower among farmers. The low relative risk was explained by high levels of physical activity and better meal quality, indicating that farmers' lifestyles and their work environment are health-promoting. It shows alarming trends of the metabolic disorder diabetes mellitus among peasants. It was noted that 70% of them did not even know that they have diabetes. But the results of the study in the Indian context pointed to something quite contrary.
