Q1. This is your second term as the Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCNUJC), how is it different from the first one?

There’s no revolutionary change as you move in the second term but yes you gain consistency. Though with the second term, you get an extended time period to accomplish your vision. The prospects you start n 1st term, to tend to improve them with quality and content. You also get not only to conceptualize but implement novel ideas.

Q2. The university has gained many laurels how do you plan to take this forward?

We are honored to be the institutes who have equipped ourselves to meet the new trends for next five years at least. The sector in which our country lags is research. We do not have the data, and the data is huge. We combined different technologies like printing, broadcasting, information technology, radio broadcasting served emerging new platforms which proved a boon for us. We started 1st M. Sc. media research institute in India and are working on 17 projects.

Q3. How do you maintain the standard of quality education at your institute?

The base of media education lies in its principals. At Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University, we not only teach our students the basic lessons but the principle behind them. We make sure our students understand why a certain shot is placed, the scientific reason behind an angle for the shot.

Q4. What is your message for the students out there, how they can become goof journalists?

I tell this to my students at the Institute as well, before attempting to be a good journalist, one needs to be a good human, a good citizen and then good journalists. If the order changes, it is reflected in their writings as well.
