University of British Columbia giving away $280,000 grant for research

140 doctoral students will be selected.  In addition to being part of the Faculty of Forestry, PhD students are also considered members of one of our three Faculty departments, based on their supervisor’s affiliation.


The University of British Columbia is giving a scholarship to overseas students for research in the Faculty of Forestry A Forestry Student can avail a grant up to $280,000 for a forestry programme.

UBC consistently ranks as one of the world’s top research universities. Globally connected, it attracts research faculty and students and approximately $600 million in research funding each year.

140 doctoral students will be selected.  In addition to being part of the Faculty of Forestry, PhD students are also considered members of one of our three Faculty departments, based on their supervisor’s affiliation.

Fellowship Objective

The fellowship aims to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies.

Fellowship reward

$70,000 CAD annually for up to four years. The fellowship is intended to cover all expenses incurred in the preparation and conduct of research. 

Eligibility

An applicant must be seeking financial support for their first doctoral degree, Meet the eligibility requirements for admission to full-time doctoral studies at UBC Forestry and intend to register beginning September 2018.

Remain enrolled as a full-time doctoral student in the UBC Forestry doctoral program

Not hold any other award from the Canadian government or the University of British Columbia at the same time as the Future Forests Fellowship

Last date to apply is November 24
