The final results for the Uttarakhand Judicial Service Civil Judge (Junior Division) Examination, 2016 was declared recently and Poonam Todi who the daughter of an autorickshaw driver, in Dehradun has topped the s examination.
Poonam has been working for this examination for years, She was preparing for the examination for the last four years and briefly attended coaching classes in Delhi. It was her third attempt at the Judicial Services Examination. She failed to make beyond the interview in her last two attempts
Poonam completed her MCom from DAV (PG) College in Dehradun in 2010. After completing her masters in commerce she obtained an LLB degree and is currently enrolled in the LLM programme. She was driven towards judicial services by the “respect that judges get in society”, apart from the promise of financial security.
Ashok Kumar, who earns Rs 300 a day on an average by plying an autorickshaw, supported the family. Poonam has three siblings — one sister and two brothers. The youngster attributed her success to her family who she calls her rock-solid support.
