Supreme Court raps Centre for ministers' comments on Padmavati

Calling it as a prerogative of national censor board to review the film,  the judges said, "When the matter is pending the  consideration of the CBFC (Central Board of  Film Certification), how can persons holding public offices comment on whether CBFC should issue certificate or not? That will prejudice the decision of the CBFC."

In a major relief to the ‘Padmavati’ makers, Supreme Court has pronounced its decision of not putting a ban on the movie in a rebuke of various chief ministers and others who’ve protested against the movie.

This is the third time that Supreme Court has turned down the request.

The Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have already announced to not allow the release of the movie, even if it is cleared by the censor board.

On the other hand, filmmakers and artistes have said it as a complete blatant violation of freedom of expression in order to show the support to the filmmakers.
