After Pad Man, Twinkle Khanna produces another film on menstruation

The filmmaker also said that Twinkle loved the film, he was quoted saying, “She felt the film made a solid and forceful point and she offered her support immediately. I remain indebted to her.”

Former actress and author Twinkle Khanna, who ventured into film production with menstrual hygiene based film ‘Pad Man’ featuring her husband Akshay Kumar has now backed another film on the similar subject.

Yes, the star wife has produced yet another film based on the same subject but unlike ‘Pad Man’ it’s a short film named First period. It is directed and written by Zubaan helmer Mozez Singh.

Twinkle is set to launch the short film on World Menstrual Day which is on Monday across all her social media platforms. The film showcases the first period from a boy’s point of view.

Filmmaker Mozez Singh said,

“When I was approached by Dasra, the NGO behind the film alongside The Gates Foundation, their brief was they wanted men to be involved in the conversation about menstrual hygiene. So, we wrote a script where we showed everything from a man’s point of view and how in that world it’s all perfect and empowering. It raises the question why can’t this happen in a woman’s world and forces you to neutralise gender disparity. First Period is another voice in that conversation.”

The filmmaker also said that Twinkle loved the film, he was quoted saying, “She felt the film made a solid and forceful point and she offered her support immediately. I remain indebted to her.”
