After the actor Irrfan Khan, the news of Sonali Bendre having diagnosed with cancer is extremely shocking for the fans and well-wishers. The actress recently shared the news of her cancer on the social media which shook everyone. But keeping the hopes high let us take a look at the actress who fought and came out of the dreadful disease.

Manisha Koirala

'Sanju' fame, Manisha Koirala's cancer came to light after she fell unconscious in 2012 and later was admitted in a city hospital. After some tests, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She underwent surgery in the following month and battled the ailment by coming out on top. The recovery took her almost a couple of years in New York during which she posted some of her chemo sessions. The actress made a comeback to the silver screen thereafter.

 

Lisa Ray

The Canadian-born model-turned-actress Lisa Ray who appeared in films like ‘Hanste Khelte’, ‘Kasoor’, ‘Water’, ‘Bollywood Hollywood’ and ‘Veerappan’, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells) cancer type in 2009. Though she chose to keep mum about it but bravely battled it out to tell her cancer story to others.

 

Mumtaz

Very few people know that yesteryear's diva, Mumtaz is a breast cancer survivor as well. The legendary actress was diagnosed with a malignant lump in her breasts in early 2000. Despite having breast cancer she decided to fight and undergo several chemo sessions before becoming free of it at the age of 54. A few years later the actress quoted in an interview saying, "I don't give up easily. Even death will have to fight me.”

 

Barbara Mori

Not many know that actress Barbara Mori who appeared opposite Hrithik Roshan in ‘Kites’ some years back is also a cancer survivor. It was much before the commencement of the shoot when she encountered the dreaded disease and soon recovered from it. It was during the making of ‘Kites’ that Barbara and director Anurag Basu bonded big time as both were cancer survivors.
