Pilot Project: Maruti Suzuki launches subscription model for Gurugram and Bangalore

“The subscription will be initially available on Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga from Maruti Suzuki ARENA Channel and Baleno, Ciaz and XL6 from NEXA Channel,” the company statement added.

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) announced the launch of its Vehicle Lease Subscription Service, called ‘Maruti Suzuki Subscribe’ for its individual customers.

The carmaker informed in a regulatory filing that through this service, it will offer cars for subscription as a pilot project in Gurugram and Bengaluru.

“The subscription will be initially available on Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga from Maruti Suzuki ARENA Channel and Baleno, Ciaz and XL6 from NEXA Channel,” the company statement added.

The monthly payments will not include the cost of using the vehicle, but it will take care of maintenance and insurance costs. Customers can choose to subscribe to a vehicle for a minimum period of 24 months and a maximum of 48 months. What’s more, the company also offers 24x7 roadside assistance for vehicles procured via subscription.

For this initiative, Maruti Suzuki has tied up with ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Limited, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, Japan.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India Ltd and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (M&M) already offer their vehicles on lease. In 2018, Hyundai also made an undisclosed investment in Revv, while Mumbai-based M&M invested around ?176 crores in Zoomcar.

Others like Mercedes-Benz India, Volkswagen India and BMW India have their own customized leasing options for their customers.
