The split-headlamp setup on the current-gen, which polarised opinions, is not present on the new model

  • The new Octavia is scheduled to be unveiled in November 2019.

  • New model gets an aggressive front-end like the Superb facelift.

  • It is based on the latest version of VW’s MQB modular platform.

  • The cabin will feature a minimalistic design.

  • India launch expected in the second half of 2020.

A few days ago, Skoda had revealed a design sketch of the upcoming fourth-gen Octavia. However, now we have received a photo of what the new fourth-gen Octavia will look like thanks to an error on Skoda’s website.

Just as the teaser suggested, the leaked image confirms that Skoda has done away with the split-headlamp setup and the new sleek headlamps look a lot like the ones offered in the current-gen Superb. The front looks quite aggressive and the shoulder line, which runs from the front fender till almost the tail light, is quite prominent.

The latest version of VW’s MQB platform will underpin the new Skoda Octavia, which after its reveal next month, should go on sale in global markets in early 2020. It should reach the Indian market in the second half of 2020. We also expect the Octavia to grow in size.

While we couldn’t catch a glimpse of the interior, test mules have indicated that the passenger compartment will follow a minimalistic design theme.

The current-gen Skoda Octavia is priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 25.99 lakh. When the new model comes to India next year, expect it to command a slight premium over the current-gen model thanks to stricter emission norms.
