Moving onto the upcoming sedans of 2019, ranging from an average one to an upper-class elite. Several car manufacturers such as BMW, Audi, Honda and Hyundai have all their cars, that are soon to be introduced from its various showrooms within the same calendar year. People can`t wait to start saving in order to purchase their respective dream cars.
Although sedans may not find as much favour with Indian car buyers like it once did some time ago, various manufacturers are presenting a fleet of those for the new year. These include all-new models such as the BMW 3 Series, Hyundai Elantra, electric vehicles such as the Tigor EV and a much-awaited comeback like the Honda Civic. Here’s a quick look at what we can expect this year.
1. Toyota Camry 2019
The new-gen Camry is based on the same TNGA platform as the premium Lexus ES 300h. So expect it to be spacious as well as quite stylish too. Like before, expect Toyota to offer it with a hybrid powertrain only. Although the test mule is heavily camouflaged, it is identifiable as the Thai-spec Camry which went on sale in October 2018. The new Toyota Camry will be expected to launch on January 18th and it will be priced between Rs. 29.75 lakh to Rs. 37.22 lakh. It will primarily rival the Hyundai Accord Hybrid in India.
2. 2019 Audi A8
The flagship Audi A8 was supposed to reach our shores in 2018. Unfortunately, that was not to be. The German model makers are going to feature plenty more high-tech features than before, competing with the likes of Mercedes Benz S-Class and the BMW 7 Series. The Audi A8 is expected to hit the showroom floors next month and it will be priced from Rs. 1.1 to 2 crore.
3. Honda Civic
For the first time ever, the new Honda Civic will be featuring a diesel engine. The diesel unit of the car will be borrowed from the CR-V, while the petrol engine could be the updated version of the 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated motor, better than it`s older predecessor. The new Honda Civic will be launched sometime around April and the price of this sedan will range from Rs 18 to 24 lakh.
4. Audi A6
The A6 bears a lot of visual similarities with its elder sibling, the A8, now. It even gets a new mild-hybrid technology which helps it coast at speeds between 55kmph and 160kmph to save fuel. The Audi A6 is much bigger in size than it`s predecessor. It is now 7mm longer, 12mm wider and 2mm, plus the wheelbase has also gone up by 12mm and now stands at 2924mm. The Audi A6 will be priced between Rs. 54 to 56 lakh and it is expected to launch by February.
5. Hyundai Elantra
The Elantra has undergone a thorough facelift and looks a lot more aggressive than before. The refreshed sedan will feature an updated equipment list as well. Hyundai has revealed the 2019 Elantra facelift in the US. The refreshed version of the sixth-gen model will go on sale in the US later this year and is likely to be launched in India in 2019.
6. Tata Tigor EV
People will now get an opportunity to buy the all-electric sedan sometime this year, after central government agency, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), and self-drive rental company, Zoomcar, have captured this automobile for commercial purposes. The car boasts a range of 130 km and Tata claims that it takes about six hours to get the vehicle fully charged. The Tata Tigor EV will hit the showrooms in the summer and priced at Rs. 12 lakhs.
7. BMW 3 Series
One of the best driver’s car out there, the BMW 3 Series will now be available in all-new avatar. The car was spotted undergoing tests at the Nurburgring some time back and we hope to put it through its paces at our proving ground, the Buddh International Circuit, later this year. The BMW3 Series is slated to launch in June 2019 and is priced between Rs 40 to 50 lakhs.
8. Skoda Superb Facelift
Launched way back in 2015, the Czech sedan is set to receive its mid-life update this year. The list of changes could include subtle cosmetic enhancements and a few additional features. The Skoda Superb Facelift is slated to release around mid-2019 and is priced between Rs. 26 to 34 lakhs.
9. 2019 Volvo S60
Just like the A6 that borrows design cues from the A8, the 2019 S60 looks similar to the bigger S90. The third-gen S60 is going to be the first Volvo in a long time that won’t get a diesel engine. Instead, it will only be sold with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The Volvo S60 is slated to release in June of this year and is priced between Rs 40 to 50 lakhs.
