Packed with festiveness, October brings up another reason to celebrate with Karwa Chauth. This year the auspicious festival falls on 8th October. Unlike other fasts where one can eat fruits and other ‘vrat’ dishes, Karwa Chauth takes a step ahead and forbids any eatables. With such hectic schedules, it might be difficult to stay hungry all through the day.
But you can make things easy for you with these doable tips. Have a look!
It`s difficult to avoid sugary items on festivals, but avoiding one in your Sargi will help you a great deal. Sugary food is high on energy levels but the energy provided by it, is consumed very fast, and they tend to you make hungry after some time. Instead, you can have some cottage cheese which is high in protein.
Include some Nuts
Nuts keep your energy bar high. Include some walnuts and almonds and you will have an energy reserve for yourself to sustain the whole day. These nuts are high in essential fats which will not make you feel hungry for a long time.
Drink Luke warm water
Drinking lukewarm water is always advisable, but consuming it with your sargi can be a good idea. Luke arm water matches your body temperature thus making absorption and digestion easy. Thus, make sure that you drink 3-4 glasses of water so that you don’t feel thirsty throughout the day.
Stay away from spicy food
Since you have to stay away from eating for a long time, don’t consume deep fried and spicy food. During fast the empty stomach has high acidity levels, therefore having spicy and oily food will irritate your stomach. Instead, eat something light and high protein value which stores energy for you.
Keep yourself busy
It’s difficult to think and avoid food when you cannot have it, thus keep yourself busy. Listen to some music, watch television, read something or maybe just sleep. If you will keep thinking about food, you may feel hungry and thirsty. Or concentrating on the way you look in the evening can help.
Enjoy Karwa Chauth in its full zeal, and let you`re loved know you care, but don’t forget health is your top priority and if your body doesn’t allow, there always an option to make some modifications.
