Often it happens that you feel absolutely exhausted even when you are not sleep deprived and had a good appetite. You feel so depleted and out of energy.  But did you really had a good appetite? A healthy one? Pondering over the figment you’d realize there are certain foods that make you feel sluggish and out of energy. Including high calorie food and beverages in your diet may kill your energy level making you feel exhausted, sleepy and tired.

White bread

Your morning breakfast essential can also be one of the reasons you feel fatigued. White bread typically includes refined carbohydrate, producing a high level of insulin. As told insulin checks sugar contents in the body dropping energy levels.

Fast/fried foods

Meals that are high in fat levels and mostly delicious like potato chips, burgers, cheese and fried foods are absolutely energy drainers. They cause fatigue and make you feel low on energy. Because fried foods being fatty takes more energy to break them down for digestion. Instead of providing the energy it takes it up for digestion.

Soda

Most sodas contain huge chunks of sugar and artificial sweeteners. The chemical components, used as a sugar substituent has more side effects associated with it than you can count on your fingertips. Its consumption is associated with a number of diseases like diabetes, emotional disorders and epilepsy.

High sugary food

You would disagree instantly with us because it is advised to increase your sugar content in case you feel low on energy. But in actuality, when you have sugary content your blood sugar level shoots up making you feel energetic, and to control that our body releases insulin to control the boosted levels, again making you feel lethargic.

Alcohol

Consumption of alcohol in any way is injurious to health, and excessive intake of alcohol takes a toll on your energy levels. A study suggested that alcohol suppresses the release of glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter, which facilitates brain activity and energy levels. It is because alcohol has the tendency to slow down the central nervous system. 

So next time when you feel dizzy in your office hours you don’t have to blame your monotonous work. It might be because of the delicious food you had been munching to keep you awake.
