Now you can thank your Ola drivers by offering them a tip for relentlessly serving you even during the coronavirus pandemic. The company has rolled out a feature across the globe which will let the riders express their gratitude and reward drivers for delivering safe and high-quality ride experience. Ola has rolled out the in-app tipping feature that would let users include a tip as a token of appreciation for their drivers. The feature has been rolled out to users across India, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

To spread awareness about its latest feature, Ola has also launched a social media campaign which is called the #SayThanksWithATip, which lets people know about the new initiative by Ola so that they can reward the drivers who have gone deliver a great ride experience even at the face of adversity.

Talking about Ola’s new initiative, Anand Subramanian, Spokesperson at Ola, said, “Since the beginning of the pandemic, our driver-partners worked tirelessly to enable essential travel for all those in need, despite facing their own challenges. As services resume, they continue to personally invest in ensuring the safety of their customers and deliver a comfortable ride experience. Linking rewards to higher-quality services, we invite our customers to join us in sharing our appreciation and supporting them during these trying times. Not only will the new functionality provide an opportunity for drivers to increase their earnings but will also showcase how a small gesture of solidarity and support from customers will drive our driver-partner community to go a long way.”

The feature has now gone live and the tipping feature will appear in the final step of the payment phase and will let customers select a fixed or customized amount that will translate to higher earning potential for these drivers. The feature is available across all categories including Ola Auto, bike, and others. For instance, if your ride amount is Rs 120, you can thank your driver by giving an extra 50 bugs or more. The tipping amount would be over the ride amount.

Ola and other ride-hailing apps had resumed services after the lockdown was lifted a few weeks ago. The company had announced a set of guidelines for the riders and drivers to comply with the safety norms. Both the drivers and riders are advised to wear masks during the journey. They have been given the leverage to cancel a trip if either party is not wearing a mask. Drivers are advised to sanitize their cars after every ride and also undergo fumigation in every 48 hours. Ola has provided the safety kits to their driver-partners as well.
