A hump abuts the main Mehrauli Road in New Delhi. You climb its gentle gradient and enter a series of streets that are long, narrow and winded. Bungalows and tiny farmhouses hide behind tall walls. A sharp turn here or a gentle serve there and you suddenly arrive at Kairali, the ayurvedic spa and wellness centre.

Kairali, Delhi,  is the first centre which was established by the Kairali group in 1989  which has since expanded to three continents and nine countries. The Kairali flagship Ayurvedic health resort, however, is located in Palakkad, Kerala.

Kairali is derived from the Malayalam word for Kerala and it was founded in 1989 to introduce and promote ancient forms of Ayurvedic treatment. True Ayurveda, in its purest form, percolated down through generations, never losing its original sheen. It was given a new form when the first Ayurvedic centre was set up in Delhi. It gave the ancient practice new wings to enrich the body, mind and soul of people across geographies.

Kairali is run by a family that has been blessed with a legacy of knowledge of such known Ayurvedic physicians as the late Dr Sankunny Vaidiar and Late Dr K.S. Vasudevan, who had over last eight decades devoted themselves to research and develop practices and techniques like Lipidex for obesity, durance for sexual disorders, duravin forte for aphrodisiac properties and spaliv for liver disorder. The pioneering duo were the grandfather and father of Mr K.V. Ramesh, managing director of Kairali.

With Delhi as a base, Kairali has, since its inception, conducted a number of workshops in Panchkarma and other Ayurvdic treatments. These workshops have been attended by doctors, dieticians and beauticians from all over the world. Inspired by their enthusiasm and insistence, the Ramesh family expanded their operations and set up Ayurvedic treatment centres, hospitals and resorts all over the world.

The Kairali Ayurvedic Group is renowned for quality and results. It perpetuates its knowledge and expertise through its own trained and qualified staff and certified production centres. A wide range of  Ayurvedic products are produced at these centres.

The fact that Kairali has established its credentials is evident from the recognition that the Kerala Government has given it by awarding it the Green Leaf Certification. It is the highest level of certification for Ayurvedic centres. Kairali spas, training centres, factories and resorts have also been similarly recognized at the national and international level. In fact, Kairali: The Ayurvedic Healing Village in Palakkad has been voted as one of the Top 50 Wellness Destinations of the World by the National Geographic Traveler.

The fabulous Village is located in the land of palm trees and paddy fields. Palakkad is known for its rich flora and fauna. Etymologically, Palakkad is derived from the words Pala and Kadu. Pala is a tree with sweet-scented flowers and Kadu means forest. In sum, it means a forest of sweet-scented flowers.

Palakkad is situated amidst the widest mountain pass in the world. The pass is about thirty to forty kilometre wide between two folds of the Western Ghats in South India, on the border of the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

In order to further boost the environ of wellness, the Village has been built on the strict principles of Vaastu Shastra. All sections are aligned to natural forces to facilitate the flow of positive energy for full and holistic healing of people who visit it from across the world.
