How much does it cost to stay at the most expensive Airbnbs in India?

There is no shortage of eye-popping, beautiful properties on Airbnb. We researched the most expensive listings on the world`s biggest home-sharing platform to see what you can get if you`re willing to spend a small fortune.

Having already upended the hospitality industry, Airbnb has been seeing tremendous growth in emerging markets like India. On the one hand, private homes can often be more practical alternatives to hotels during an average vacation. However, they can also offer a much wider range of luxurious features & amenities, and India has plenty of extravagant Airbnbs for those with a big enough budget.

1. Haveli Style Wedding Venue, New Delhi – Rs. 250,000 Per Night

It isn`t surprising that the most expensive property we found is a spectacular wedding venue, located south of Hauz Kaus and east of Gurugram. The property is noted as one of the few places in the area with a pool, and additional luxury amenities include an indoor fireplace, a gym and complimentary breakfast. The beautiful, well-manicured grounds could easily host a wide range of large events in addition to weddings. For those wanting to incorporate site-seeing into their trip, a one-hour drive or so should bring one within reach of the forts, temples and bazaars of New Delhi, and a 3-4 hour drive would get a visitor to the Taj Mahal in Agra.

2. Smart House, Mumbai – Rs. 200,000 Per Night

Second place belongs to a 4-floor, 22,000-square foot bungalow on Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The home`s 4 floors are each dedicated to a specific purpose including 1) professional activities, 2) cooking & dining, 3) music & lounging and 4) the master bedroom. It`s noted as one of the few places in the area with a hot tub, and it offers gym access as an additional luxury amenity. Above all, the ability to lounge, eat and take in the coastal views from its multi-level outdoor deck is arguably the most desirable feature of this lavish home. As a base for exploring Mumbai`s incredible sights, the property is 20km from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and just a few kilometers from the Iskcon Temple.

3. Chamong Chiabari, Darjeeling – Rs. 170,000 Per Night

The 3rd spot on our list is technically a boutique hotel, but the Airbnb page suggests the entire venue could be rented out for 16 guests. As the listing title implies, the property would surely be a picturesque wedding destination, but it could also act as a breathtaking base for bird watching, hiking, cycling and safaris around Darjeeling. Luxury amenities include an indoor fireplace, a pool, a hot tub, a gym and complimentary breakfast. Above all, access to the 120-year-old Chamong Chiabari tea estate is what makes this property especially unique.

4. 54-Foot Luxury Yacht, Mumbai Harbour – Rs. 160,000 Per Night

Perhaps the most adventurous "home" on our list, this 54-Foot Luxury Yacht is the 4th most expensive Airbnb in India. Accessed via a separate "transfer boat", the yacht comes equipped with skipper and crew, presumably to provide rides out on the water during the day. It`s hard to imagine a more unique way to experience Mumbai than combining the sites of the city with a private sailing crew and waking up on the water.

5. The Orchard at Peora Estates, Uttarakhand – Rs. 155,000 Per Night

Coming in at number 5, The Orchard at Peora Estates is situated in Uttarakhand Pradesh with striking views of the Himalayas. Nature enthusiasts will love the opportunities for trekking, bird watching or photography in this region. The home itself has a Tuscan architectural design, and the furniture was curated by a boutique brand whose prior work included high-end hotels like the Four Seasons and the Ritz Carlton. Luxury amenities include an indoor fireplace, a hot tub and complimentary breakfast. Notably, The Orchard`s Head Chef provides a farm-to-table concept focused on organic fruit, vegetables and meat, with fish sourced from the nearby Kumaon valleys.
