You might need a vacation badly but your bank balance tells you, the time is not apt. With these few tricks, you can easily plan a vacation that goes easy on your pocket.
What happens when the wanderlust bug bites you and you are out of money? You either gulp down your excitement or end up broke with a recklessly planned trip and swear not to go on a vacation ever again! Life is not always a bed of thrones though. You can easily tackle your cravings for an expedition with your diminishing bank balance together with a little more planning and choosing to save beforehand.
The travel we are exposed to is expensive. What is advertised with magazines, travel agencies all feature high-end luxury vacations at resorts and cruises? The travelogue of a frequent traveller will hardly feature such luxury vacations. Cheap however always does not mean bad. Start planning your trip with a bit of research.
Give the travel agency a miss
Plan your own vacation and itinerary. Do not let the agent fix for you what should be visited and what is not worth a visit. Travel agents charge extra keeping in mind their profit margin. It is always fun talking to the local people knowing the history of the place and exploring places all by yourself. The autowalas and roadside Dhaba walas will have more interesting stories.
Open a dedicated Savings account
You can never have enough money to travel if it’s not the beginning of a month when you have just got your salary. Open a savings account and move in a part of your pay cheque every month to the account. Doing this you don’t have to cut down on your other expenditures on the travelling month.
Not airfares but many tours and cruises cut down heavily on their prices if they have a problem to fill up spaces. Stalk for such deals, a couple of days back. You might end up finding yourself a luxurious stay at an affordable price. For airfares, booking tickets ridiculously much in advance can fetch you cheap tickets.
Choose virgin destinations
Popular destinations are crowded and polluted. You might be fascinated by the travel account of your friends but they are all the same. Why not choose a place that is not a famous name and make it famous with your travel blog? There are many pristine Himalayan valleys that boast of scenic view, cool air and cosy home stays will not let you feel the heat of a reputed hotel chain.
Carry your food and go easy on shopping
You may be a shopaholic but when you are travelling prioritize on your itinerary. Make the best of your time, explore the place thoroughly, carry packaged food as much as you can so that you are not left starving at a remote place and can cut on the restaurant bills. Choose the local food hotels over the big chains to get a slice of the lifestyle of the place.
We are sure you will find these tips handy in planning a vacation that does not pinch your pocket much!
