Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park is a national park situated in the Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nagaon districts of the state of northeastern Assam of India. The 430 square kilometer area of Kaziranga National Park is sprinkled with elephant-grass meadows, swampy lagoons, and dense forests. It is a place of two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses and declared a World Heritage Site. Another attraction for Kaziranga national park is the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world. Due to the higher number of tigers, this park was also declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. However, currently, the highest tiger density is in Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand. Along with one-horned rhinoceros, the park is famous as a breeding ground for elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Kaziranga National Park is also a home of avifaunal species birds like lesser white-fronted goose, ferruginous duck, Baer’s pochard duck and lesser adjutant, greater adjutant, black-necked stork, and Asian Openbill stork specially migrate from Central Asia during the winter season (important Bird Area by Bird Life International for the conservation).

Kaziranga park is in different altitudes between the eastern and western directions, therefore it has several kinds of vegetation’ like alluvial inundated grasslands, alluvial savanna woodlands, tropical moist mixed deciduous forests, and tropical semi-evergreen forests. The park is also famous for Kumbhi, Indian gooseberry, cotton tree, and elephant Apple.

 Wildlife lovers’ people can visit the park between November to April every year. The park is closed from 01 May till 31 Oct every year for the visitors. The most attractive part of the visit to Kaziranga park is the jeep and elephant safari tour. The management provides a jeep tour from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the morning and in the afternoon from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM. The visitors enjoy an elephant tour in the morning at only 5.30 or 6.30 AM.

Kaziranga park has an ample number of nature getaways like wildlife sanctuaries, parks for bird watching, and hill stations. The visit to Kaziranga National Park gives you a memorable holiday. You can also visit some places around Kaziranga National Park such as Orang National Park (114 km), Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Addabarie Tea Estate, Kakochang fall (46 km), Deopahar (51 km).
