New York Broadway to remain shut for 2020

Broadway shows are going on a sabbatical for the rest of the year.

Some of the major tourist destinations will still be remained closed even after countries opening up their borders for foreign tourists. One more spot added in that list is New York Broadway. As of now, it has been reported that Broadway shows are going on a sabbatical for the rest of the year.

One of New York’s finest attractions, Broadway shows are extremely popular, and very prestigious among actors. Some of the biggest names, from Nicole Kidman to Daniel Radcliffe, have gone on Broadway shows. Then, there are Broadway legends such as Julie Andrews and Barbra Streisand who have made a name for themselves across the world. This iconic New York experience will have to wait for 2021 now because of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis that we are going through.

According to Thomas Schumacher, Chairman of the Board at The Broadway League, “Every single member of our community is eager to get back to work sharing stories that inspire our audience through the transformative power of a shared live experience.”

Reports also suggest that Broadway actually contributed massively to the city’s economy, to the tune of US$14.7bn during the 2018-19 season. It even supported 96900 jobs. But now with the shutdown for the rest of the year, tough times lie ahead.
