These adventure sports are India’s new craze, thanks to Bollywood

From the trekking in high mountains in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ to deep sea diving in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, Hindi films are giving away new riskier yet fascinating goals for the young fans.

Since dancing in rains and romancing on hill stations is too mainstream now, Bollywood is touching new heights in inspiring people to do the ‘other’ sort of crazy stuff. Yes, we’re talking about adventure sports which made their way to the celluloid screen of India.

From the trekking in high mountains in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ to deep sea diving in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, Hindi films are giving away new riskier yet fascinating goals for the young fans.

Trekking – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Let’s start with the backdrop of the movie itself. While the trek is not entirely shot in Manali and some of the incredible landscape is actually in Kashmir, the actors did cover some gorgeous trails in Himachal. For instance, they went up to the famous Hampta Pass, which offers incredible views of the grand Himalayas. The trek is truly an experience of a lifetime.

 

Skydiving - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The sport chosen by Hrithik Roshan in the film gained much popularity and topping the list of best-skydiving destinations in India, Mysore is fast gaining high popularity. Located at a distance of few hours from Bengaluru in Karnataka, the city has hosted many skydiving camps. Nestled at the base of the Chamundi Hills, Mysore is one of the best places to have the ultimate skydiving experience in India.

 

Skiing – Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai

Skiing is the most preferred winter sports in India and Auli, Uttarakhand is one of the most famous Skiing destinations in India. It is located at an elevation of 2500 to 3050 meters above sea level. Auli has also got the honour of hosting the first South Asian Winter Games in India in 2011 and ever since this place has gained immense recognition in the winter sports world. The best time to visit for skiing is December to February.

 

Deep Sea Diving - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Another sport which the movie boasted of was Deap Sea Diving. Havelock Island in Andaman is breathtaking under and over water. Havelock Island is well famous among the divers from all over the globe and also home of Rajan, the ocean swimming elephant of India. Cinque island of Andaman and Nicobar islands is another famous island know for its unique beach with water at both sides and a vibrant marine life on coral reefs.

 

River Rafting – Aisha

Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Aisha’ didn’t do much at the box office but the river rafting scene from the film managed to inspire audience to try the adventure sport in real. The River Ganga certainly offers the best experience of white water river rafting experience in India. Rafting on the Ganga can be enjoyed at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. There are four stretches- Brahmapuri to Rishikesh (9kms), Shivpuri to Rishikesh (16kms), Marine drive to Rishikesh (24kms) and Kaudiyala to Rishikesh (36kms).
