It would be right to say that Holi is synonymous with fun and frolic and this is what indulges the entire country into a celebration. If you’re looking for a new enthralling experience, you have too many options to explore in the country itself. The best places to celebrate Holi in India really depend on what kind of experience you are looking forward to. You`ll find activities taking place almost all over India, but they range from rituals to parties with DJ and from bhang, to plenty of colours. So here we bring you five places to visit during the Holi weekend

Shigmotsav, Goa

Almost like Holi, Shigmotsav is celebrated over a period of 14 days in Goa. Throughout the festival, Goan mythologies are showcased. And on the 5th day of the festival, `Rang Panchami’ is celebrated with bright colors and peppy music. This is the perfect time to see a different side of Goa, aside from the regular sunny beaches.

Holla Maholla, Punjab

Hola Mahalla or simply Hola is a Sikh event, which takes place around Holi in Punjab. It’s an occasion for the Sikhs to demonstrate their martial skills in simulated battles. While people sprinkle colours on each other, you can experience this Sikh festival which includes horse rides, lungar and mock battles lasting for three days.

Lathmaar Holi Barsana And Phoolan Wali Holi, Vrindavan

This unique celebration takes place in Barsana, which is every Holi enthusiast’s dream. It’s celebrated by women welcoming men from the nearby Nandgaon with Lathis thrown at them. This is symbolic of Lord Krishna being chased away by the local women, as he came to visit Radha, the love of his life.

You may also, travel to Vrindhavan to celebrate Phoolo wali Holi played only with flowers.

Well if you`re among the rare ones and Holi is not your cup of tea, and you`d like to move to a silent place, there you go!

Camping At Bhandardara

For all those who want an escape from the hush-hush of the festivities, this is the place for you. Go for a serene camping trip to Bhandardara, sleep under the stars and feel close to nature in this mystical Holiday resort village 185 kilometres from the bustling city of Mumbai.

 Pench Tiger Reserve

Another peace lovers heaven is Pench Tiger Reserve. It spreads across two states Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This reserve has some 225 species of birds, and animals like the Bengal tiger, dhole, wolf, hyena, jackal, leopard and the jungle cat are found here. It is a sight you can’t miss.
