The Residency

The Residency, also known as the British Residency and Residency Complex, is a group of several buildings that echoes the history of the martyrs. The scarred walls with cannon shots are still preserved in their original form. The monument is encircled by lawns and flowerbeds and is a majorly favored by tourists.

Rumi Dawaza

This massive gate is situated between Bara Imambara and Chota Imambara. It is one of the grandest structures in the city of Nawabs. The structure is as compelling as the story which says, that it was constructed to employ people in the region for almost a decade while the famine lasted. It is also said that it has a number of secret tunnels which lead to distant places.

Hussainabad Picture Gallary

The picture gallery displays the life-size portraits of the Nawabs of Awadh. In front of the Picture gallery, lies a beautiful pond bordered by green lawns and trees. The portraits of Nawabs indicate the contemporary grand costumes and jewellery used in those days, which is a visual treat to the visitors.

Ambedkar Park

It is new hangout destination for the newbies in the city. Loaded with an ample number of eating joints, it has definitely become towns new favorite. A number of songs and films have been shot here for its cinematic view. For instance, Jackky Bhagnani and Neha Sharma’s Youngistan or Pareeniti and Aditya Roy Kapur starer Dawate-E-Ishq.

Lal Pul

Lal Pul, also referred to as Pakka Pul and Navabi pul by the locals, is a bridge across the Gomti river. Being one of the oldest structures in the city, it narrates its strength withstanding a number of floods. It is the tourists’ much loved path to Bara Imambara. The bridge also garnered fame for ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.
