After Gujarat Lions posted a mammoth total, not many would have predicted that Daredevils would even reach close to Gujarat’s score.But, Delhi’s young batsman came out all guns blazing and took the Gujarat bowlers to the cleaners as Delhi chased down the target of 209 with 15 balls to spare. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson scored 97 and 61 runs respectively to keep Delhi Daredevils in fight for a playoff place.

Delhi lost their captain Karun Nair early in the tall run-chase but Samson and Pant took the attack to the opposition and brought the asking rate down to run a ball in no time. At the end Delhi won by seven wickets with 15 balls to spare.  No side ever has chased a total in excess of 200 at Kotla. And with that lingering question, Delhi became the first.

 Earlier, Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik  put together a century run stand to take Gujarat to a mammoth 208 for 7 in 20 overs. The Gujarat batsman did their job but in the end, it was the bowlers who cost them the match.  Gujarat Lions now do not have any chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
