KXIP eye two points against bottom-placed RCB

In the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League Kings XI Punjab is up against bottom team Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The season for Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore is all but over, they managed only 5 points from 11 matches and sit at the bottom of the standing.

Their star-studded batting line has failed miserably, in the last four matches alone, RCB has lost 37 wickets for a total of 441 runs. RCB are out of the playoffs but a win can still boost the moral and also give their loyal fans a reason to cheer. The two most excitable names in the RCB line-up are Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The two players have had a disappointing season – most definitely after the highs of last season.

While KXIP, who are coming off a four-day break, will be looking rub salt to the wound and deprive RCB of another victory, more importantly, they will be looking for the vital two points. The Maxwell-led side is in the bottom half of the table with 8 points from nine matches and will want to win each of their remaining five matches, and qualify for the playoffs on their own without leaving anything to mathematical calculations or permutations and combinations.

KXIP have blown hot and cold; when they’ve won, they’ve done so quite convincingly, but they haven’t managed to win more than two matches in a row, and the time has now come for them to start piling on a series of wins.
