Indian Premier League 2017 is heading toward its 42nd matches in 60 games tournament. So far, the league amazed cricket-lovers with unexpected and unbelievable shows. Few players who were underrated took cricket pundits by surprise with their explosive displays, while some imported big guns were considered as most explosive players in the tournament have squibbed badly.

These heavyweight cricketers were not highly paid by franchises but also got much space in pre-IPL discussions.
Here, we bring some of foreign players who badly failed to live up their calibers in the tournament.

1. Chris Gayle: Though, RCB’s many biggies-like AB de Villiers, Shane Watson and Tymal Mills undershot in the league but one who hurt his fans most is the giant of short format cricket Chris Gayle. Caribbean left-handed batsman looked off-colour in 6 matches so far he played. Known for his destructive batting, he managed to score only 77 runs with an average 25.33. Though, his strike rate is 124.59 with a half century.

2. Faf du Plessis: Proteas Faf du Plessis is considered as one of the finest T20 players but he failed to register his presence in IPL10. Though, RPS’s Plessis played only two matches yet could not manage to deliver impressive innings. In his two encounters, Proteas scored just paltry 8 runs.

3. Corey Anderson: Played 7 matches for Delhi Daredevils, managed to score just 120 runs and bagged 2 wicket. The Kiwi all-rounder failed to live up his caliber with mellow show in the tournament. His best in 7 matches is 41 which itself manifests that Anderson is not in good touch. The flamboyant all-rounder had the opening bid of 1 crore in IPL10 and he was sold to Delhi Daredevils franchise.

4. Lasith Malinga: One of the most successful pacers in International cricket as well as league cricket, Lasith Malinga failed to conjure his magic. His yorker also fell flat in 10th edition of IPL. While playing for MI’s side he managed to pick only 6 wickets in 6 matches. The economy rate of was also high 6.86 as he gave 239 runs on 144 balls.

5. Ben Cutting: One of the most valuable players of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ben Cutting has failed to make a dent in 4 matches he played in IPL10. Cutting, whose man-of-the-match inning had powered SRH to win IPL9 title, has bagged only 1 wicket with the economy rate of 9.71 in 10th edition.

6. David Miller: South African David Miller failed to show his caliber in the ongoing league. The left-handed batsman of KXI Punjab managed to post 83 runs in 5 matches with the strike rate of 103.75. One of the most familiar faces in IPL history, Miller had made a century in 2013 but it was his last mega show.

7. Trent Boult: New Zealand’s Trent Boult is one of the finest International bowlers but he is off colour in IPL10. He bagged just only 2 wickets in 4 games in this season. His economy is 9.85 as he spent 157 runs on 95 balls.

8.Dwayne Smith: One of the heavyweight players of West Indies, Dwayne Smith could not live up expectation of his fans. While playing for Gujarat Lions, the all-rounder has scored 103 runs with the strike rate of 135.52 in 9 matches. He also failed to do well with ball. Smith bagged just 2 wickets while giving 131 runs on 72 balls. His bowling economy was 10.91.
