KKR vs KXIP Preview: Do or die match for Kings XI against KKR

The 49th match of IPL 2017 will be played between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. The last time when these two sides met this season, KKR had a convincing victory with Captain Gautam Gambhir leading from the front. While Kolkata have already made it to the play-offs,Kings XI are in a tricky situation and need to win all of their remaining games and hope Sunrisers lose their remaining fixtures against Gujarat Lions.

Kings XI will be without Hashim Amla and David Miller, who have left for national duties and either allrounder Darren Sammy or fast bowler Matt Henry is likely to replace Amla. Amla is KXIP’s leading run-getter – and his absence could mean the team could revert to using Manan Vohra as opener.

On the other hand, KKR’s Robin Uthappa is still being monitored by the Knight Riders medical staff. There’s no confirmation on whether fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile will be available for selection either.

The Kolkata Knight Riders must be riding high on confidence after their demolition of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their previous match. Powered by Sunil Narine’s half-century – the joint-fastest half-century in the IPL – and his rollicking partnership with Chris Lynn, KKR chased down the target of 159 quite comfortably in 15.1 overs. KKR have one foot in the door for the playoffs, and the focus will now shift to confirming that playoff berth and also look to finishing the regular league season among the top two teams.
