KXIP vs KKR Review: Kings XI still in hunt as Lynn`s knock goes in vain

The 49th match of IPL 2017 ended with Kings XI Punjab defeating Kolkata Knight Riders and therefore keeping their hopes of qualifying for the play-offs alive. Chris Lynn was in superb form and top scored with 84 but his knock went in vain as none of the other KKR batsman could make any significant contribution.

Kings XI achieved this victory after superb bowling display by the spinners in the middle overs followed up by excellent death-over bowling by Mohit Sharma and Sandeep Sharma. Legspinner Rahul Tewatia was the pick of the bowlers for KXIP, bowling a tidy spell of 4-0-18-2. Tewatia was not only economical but also picked up the crucial wickets of in form Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa.

Earlier, KXIP manged to put a decent total even after in the absence of their in-form opener Hashim Amla. The team had slumped to 56 for 3 at one stage.
The onus was on the skipper Glenn Maxwell and Wriddhiman Saha to steady KXIP and they did that well.Whil Maxwell dominated the bowlers, Saha played a good supporting role.

Now, the Punjab team needs to win their remaining matches and also hope that other results go their way.
