After missing the initial few games due to chickenpox, Iyer has made a comeback. He has been making starts but just not able to convert it into a big score.Although, he made a half century against SRH as well a 47 run knock against KKR, but both innings came in a losing cause. Delhi Daredevils are currently lying at the sixth position in the points table with just three wins from nine matches. They need to win almost every match from here onwards and would need extraordinary performance from some of their youngsters including Shreyas Iyer.

 

 

 

 The Mumbai born batsman had also been called as Virat Kohli’s replacement for the final test match against Australia recently. Although, he did not get to play in the final XI but it would have been a good learning experience for the youngster as he must have learnt in the company of some of the leading players of the nation.

After becoming the highest paid uncapped player IPL 2015 auction,  he performed remarkably well. He justified his price in the auction and had been named the emerging player of IPL 8. Although, he Had a torrid time in last year’s IPL  and averaged only 5 after playing six matches.

 

Iyer plays for Mumbai cricket team and averages over 50 in first class cricket. He has played for India Under-19 cricket team at the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and also also represented Trent Bridge Cricket Team in England during the 2014 season.In the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy, Iyer scored 1,321 runs during the tournament including four centuries and seven fifties at an average of 73.39, becoming the top scorer of the Ranji season and second player to score 1,300 runs in a single Ranji Trophy competition. In the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, Iyer scored 725 runs including two centuries and two fifties at an average of 42.64. He scored 202* off 210 balls, against the visiting Australia team in a 3-Day Practice match in Mumbai, his highest First Class score.
