IPL10: Saha’s stunning 93 keeps KXIP’s playoff hopes alive

The gospel that a real conqueror rises like a phoenix from the ashes suits most on Wriddhiman Saha who played a superb knock on Thursday in a do or die match for Kings XI Punjab.

Powered by Saha’s  unbeated 93 off 55 balls , KXIP registered a stunning victory over top ranked Mumbai Indians in a must win game as the side is striving to enter in playoffs.

Wicket-keeper batsman, who was so far underwhelmed in 13 matches after scoring 221 runs, created thunderstorm at Wankhede Stadium. He emerged like a dark-horse against  one of the best bowling attacks in IPL.

Saha, registering his presence in the IPL10, made first but resounding half century. In his explosive innings, the right-handed batsman hit 3 sixes and 11 boundaries.

Saha guided his team to score a formidable total of 230 runs. He along with Martin Guptill have given ‘fast and furious’ start and the momentum was carried on by Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh. Wankhede Stadium witnessed shower of runs as total 453 runs were made in the match. Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard also displayed some fireworks by scoring quick 59 and 50 respectively. But it was Saha who hogged the lime light and stole the show.

The wicket-keeper batsman is one of the most familiar faces in the league as he is playing since IPL’s inception. Played total 103 IPL matches, he aggregated 1544 runs with one outstanding century and 6 half centuries.Before being bought by KXIP franchise in 2014, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings as well.

His fantastic work behind the wickets made him capable to put himself in MS Dhoni’s shoes. Saha has  played 25 test matches and 9 ODIs and scored 1013 and 41 runs respectively. He has also Played for West Bengal side, and scored 5054 runs in 91 domestic matches.
