Mumbai Indians win IPL 2017 , beat Pune Supergiants by 1 run

The 10th season of the Indian Premier League came to a nail biting finish as the Mumbai Indians beat the Rising Pune Supergiants in a thrilling contest to clinch their third IPL trophy. Mumbai Indians bowled their hearts out to defend a measly total of only 129 runs in their twenty overs, as Pune faltered in the last over needing 7 off just 5 balls.

The match started with the mighty Mumbai Indians batting line up choking up to some brilliant bowling by the Pune Super Giant`s bowlers almost looking to get Mumbai out for a paltry score. The mumbai batsmen managed to reach a total of 129 in their quota of 20 overs with Krunal Pandya playing a match winning knock of 47 runs of 38 balls. The Pune bowlers bowled an exceptionally tight line and length by not allowing the mumbai batsmen any freedom to play big strokes as jaydev Unadkat, Adam Zampa and Dan Cristian all got 2 wickets each while youngster Washington Sundar was also at his economical best giving away only 13 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

As the Pune started off chasing the low total, Captain Steve Smith set the tone for the innings with Ajinkya Rahane,  after opener Rahul Tripathi got out early. It looked like Pune would breeze through the Mumbai attack on there way to the target going steady through the power play without losing any more wickets. Mumbai finally got a breakthrough when Mitchell Johnson took the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane in the 12th over. This brought to the middle MS Dhoni promoted up the order to help Pune soak in the pressure, but Dhoni couldn`t really find his feet and was caught out by Parthiv Patel off the inspired bowling of Jasprit Bumrah for 10 runs off 13 balls.

The match continued its see-saw till the very final over when Pune needed just 11 off the final over with Manoj Tiwari and Steve Smith out in the middle. Death Bowling specialist Mitchell Johnson kept his nerve after Tiwari smacked the first ball of the final over to the mid wicket boundary as Pune required 7 off 5 balls. However the next two deliveries turned out to be a disaster as both Tiwari and Smith got out trying to clear the ropes.
