IPL 2017: Desperate Lions look to stop confident Supergiant

The 39th match of IPL 2017 will be played between Supergiant and Lions at the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune. As far the previous encounters between these two sides are concerned, then Gujarat lions are the clear favourites as they have won on all three occasions but Supergiant are high on confidence and have notched up four wins in their last five matches to grab the fourth place.

Aaron Finch, McCullum, Smith and Dhoni will be the batsman to watchout for in Today’s encounter. As far as bowlers are concerned, Imran Tahir is the wild card while Unadkat and Ferguson are also in good form for Lions while Faulkner and Thampi would be crucial for Lions. Lions have been the jolted with Andrew Tye’s injury and will have to play remaining without his services.

Ravindra Jadeja bowling to Steve Smith would be an interesting contest, with the former dismissing the latter four times in nine innings.

Some interesting facts:

1.The Gujarat Lions have batted first on four occasions this season and lost all 4 times.
2.Jadeja has dismissed Steve Smith four times in nine innings in the IPL. No other bowler has dismissed Smith more than twice.
3.Brendon McCullum has struggled against Jaydev Unadkat`s pace. Unadkat has dismissed him twice in two innings.
4.Ravindra Jadeja has dismissed both Dhoni and Tiwary twice in the IPL
