Journalists attacked, CPM blames BJP

Agartala: Opposition CPM on Sunday accused BJP cadres of assaulting a journalist working with their party mouthpiece and launching a sustained attack on CPM leaders and workers. The attackers snatched his identity card, cash and other documents after beating him up severely," CPM state secretary Bijan Dhar said. As the rumours spread, four people were killed and 21 injured in various attacks," the CPM state secretary said.BJP, meanwhile, stood by its claim that CPM cadres were involved in the killings. "We have identified all the persons behind the killings in the state and all of them belong to CPM," vice-president of the state unit of BJP Subal Bhowmik said. "Narayan Dhar, a correspondent with 'Daily Desher Katha', was assaulted and threatened by a gang of around 20 miscreants at Mohanpur (in West Tripura ).
