3 North East states get new governors

SHILLONG/AGARTALA: In a major reshuffle, President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday changed the governors of seven states out of which three are from the northeast.While Meghalaya governor Ganga Prasad has been trasferred to Sikkim, Tripura governor Tathagata Roy has been asked to take charge of Meghalaya. Kaptan Singh Solanki, the governor of Haryana, has been sent to Tripura. "The appointments will take effect from the dates the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices," a release issued by the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, said this evening.

While Satyadev Narayan Arya will be the new governor of Haryana, Baby Rani Maurya will take charge of Uttarakhand , it said.Ganga Prasad, who was admired for his humility, was appointed as the governor of Meghalaya on September 30, 2017.
