AGARTALA: Opposition Indigenous People's Front of Twipra (INPT) on Thursday announced it will launch a sit-in protest in November in New Delhi to press for two of its demands - withdrawal of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and introduction of National Register of Citizens ( NRC ) in Tripura The party held a youth rally in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) headquarters, Khumlung, on Tuesday demanding measures to check infiltration from across the border.INPT president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawal said that after holding the demonstration in New Delhi, party representatives will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Rajnath Singh. They will submitted a memorandum seeking action from them to "maintain the demographic profile of the state" and "protect" the people of the country from Bangladeshi "infiltrators"."The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, if passed, will only encourage infiltration of people from across the border at the cost of the indigenous people. At the same time, INPT considers NRC essential for the entire country; the entire nation should have a clear and official record of citizenship roster; otherwise India will confront a major demographic disaster from imbalance of population," Hrangkhawal said."We opposed the state government's stand on NRC, as it is faulty and self-destructive," he added.
