Finance panel lauds Tripura effort to increase tax revenue

AGARTALA: The 15th Finance Commission (FC), headed by Dr NK Singh, on Thursday appreciated the efforts of the state government to increase the collection of tax revenue and the perspective plan to get access to Chittagong sea port of Bangladesh for making the state a business hub for the northeastern region.After holding separate meetings with the various political parties and trade bodies, the 15th FC team had a detailed meeting with chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his cabinet members, where the state government justified the demand of pre-devolution grant of Rs 1.08 lakh crore for the period of 2020-25.Dr Singh said the state government has emphasized on the connectivity issue for boosting business and tourism.
