Former Tripura minister joins JD-U

AGARTALA: Veteran CPI leader and former jail minister of the Manik Sarkar-led Left Front government, Manindra Reang, has joined the Janata Dal (United). After the last assembly election, which he lost from the Shantirbazar constituency of south Tripura , Manindra practically became inactive and started looking for greener pastures. However, his anger against the CPM remained. He has been appointed as the president of the party’s state unit.In a statement, NE incharge of JD(U) and general decretary Afaque Ahmed Khan said, “Bihar chief minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar has appointed Reang as the state president of JD(U) and former police officer Har Kumar Debbarma has been appointed as the vice- president of the state unit.”Manindra, who was forced to resign from his ministerial post in 2005 when the Left Front downsized its ministry from 18 to 12 members, was reinstated later on.
