Tripura farmers to get Rs 6,000 each under central scheme

AGARTALA: The council of ministers in Tripura has approved disbursement of Rs 6,000 each among farmers having less than two hectares of agricultural land under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PMKSNY). "We had decided to provide the first instalment of Rs 2,000 to farmers having less than two hectares of agricultural land as soon as the PMKSNY was announced. He added that altogether 1.28 lakh land deed recipients under Forest Right Act will benefit from the scheme. The remaining Rs 4,000 will be paid in two equal instalments," chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said on Saturday. The money will be given in three phases.

He added that the first phase of disbursement will conclude on March 31.The scheme will be officially launched on February 24 and forms will be available in the offices of gram panchayat , nagar panchayat, municipal council and corporation from February 18 to 22. Ministers, MLAs and government officials have been instructed to publicize the scheme at the grassroots level.Biplab said if a particluar plot of land is registered in the name of a farmer, the money will be deposited in his account. However, if he is not alive and the land is not distributed among brothers and sisters, the department will settle the case in a mutually agreed way, he added.The chief minister said if a farmer owns land but engages other labourers to work on it, no financial assistance will be provided. He added that altogether 1.28 lakh land deed recipients under Forest Right Act will benefit from the scheme.
